July 8, 1955 - December 31, 2020
Born in Parkersburg, WV
Resided in Cairo, West Virginia

After a 65 year long race on this earth, Ronald “Steve” Armentrout took the checkered flag on December 31, 2020. He is now celebrating his victory in Heaven with his father and many other friends and family members who had already completed their races.

Steve’s race started on July 8, 1955 when he was born to Ronald C. and Lesta J. Armentrout of Dogcomfort, West Virginia. Though he always had a great passion for racing, nothing made him prouder than his family. His wife, Sandy, was his crew chief for almost 45 years, along with his mother and stepfather, Ron. His children, Tiffany (Dan) Davies and Scott (Lori) Armentrout rounded out his crew. His grandsons Chris (Amanda) Davies, Alex Davies, Jay Davies and Daniel Armentrout, along with four great granddaughters Ember, Evelyn and Ada Davies were always cheering for him in the grandstands.

Steve enjoyed sharing not only his passion for and knowledge of racing, but also his testimony of salvation and love for God. He was a member, youth director and teacher of the young adult Bible classes at Bonds Creek Free Will Baptist Church for almost 37 years.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no memorial services will be held at this time, but will be announced on a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the West Virginia Heritage Racing Festival at 2479 Oxford Road, Pullman, WV 26421, or by calling Ashley Ness at 304-678-7100.
