Howard Scott Deuley (Scott, or Bub to his family), 83, died October 17, 2020 in Parkersburg, WV under the care of Eagle Pointe and Housecalls Hospice.
Scott was born May 7, 1937 to Arthur J. Deuley Sr. and Thelma F. Deuley (Westfall), and raised in Lower Run in Gilmer County, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Betty Harris (Carl), Wanda Knotts (Jim) and Hilda Deuley, and 2 brothers, Burl and Veral Deuley.
Scott is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Alice Deuley (Gregory) of Pennsboro WV, 2 siblings, Robert Gerald Deuley (Theda) of Belpre Ohio and Arthur J. Deuley Jr. (Betty) of Grantsville WV, 4 children, Rondal L. Deuley (Betty) of West Salem Ohio, Rhonda M. Eakle (Austin) of Pennsboro WV, Paul E. Deuley (Denise) of Parkersburg WV, and Michael S. Deuley of Rosedale WV, 6 grandchildren, Katlyn, David, RJ, Toni, Tarissa, and Tommy, and many other family and friends that he loved, talked of frequently and missed.
A current resident of Pennsboro WV, Scott lived most of his life in Cedarville WV, where he worked and was a friend that regularly helped many in the community. Scott loved holding hands with his sweetheart Mary, and his favorite things to do were working outdoors, raising his garden, hunting deer and squirrels (squirrels, he would never eat!), and sitting on the front porch with his snuff and pets (his dog Stormy was his favorite) yelling at all who travelled Leatherbark Road. His family spent his final days remembering his favorite things and activities, including Jeeps, summers spent gathering firewood, and drinking coffee and visiting with his friends, including Harold Lowther and Jack Frymier.
Scott will be missed by anyone who knew him, and as you’d expect, he was stubborn and fought to the very end of life. A cremation is planned and there will be no services held at this time. The family would like to thank the staff at Housecalls Hospice, Camden Clark Medical Center and Eagle Pointe for their dedication to Scott’s care and asks that donations be made to Housecalls Hospice in lieu of flowers.
